Concrete Music
Established in 2010, Concrete Music is an events company formed by a group of friends with a passion for arts and specifically, a wide spectrum of electronic music.
Mixmag chose Concrete as one of the UK’s top student nights, admiring that the atmosphere at our events is “always sky high”.
From its roots as a weekly Tuesday night event in the back room of a pub in the city enter of Portsmouth - named the Kraken Wakes (Later The Registry), the grass-roots brand developed into so much more over the last decade, expanding to regular events in London & Southampton, as well as hosting stages at UK festivals: Bugged Out Weekender, Mutiny Festival, South Central Festival, Elrow Town & International festival Snowbombing.
Concrete’s flagship night ‘Concrete Thursdays’ (previously Concrete Tuesdays) has been bringing the world’s best underground artists to Portsmouth weekly for the last decade. Including: Disclosure, Sherelle, Mike Skinner, AJ Tracey, Kings of the Rollers, Eats Everything, D Double E, B.Traits, Artwork, Claude Von Stroke, LUCY, Jonny Banger, and Skream to name a few…
Concrete Music has been the main arts events company in Portsmouth and the only company to have consistently run electronic music events in Portsmouth for the last 10 years. It caters for a wide range of music communities including: House, Techno, Disco, Drum & Bass, UK Garage, Grime, Dubstep, as well as our 80’s, 90’s and ‘Glitter Disco’ events.
Concrete has become a Portsmouth staple, growing a cult following of fans & attendees over the years. This has been proven multiple times by these fans following Concrete wherever the events are held - after sadly losing venues ‘The Registry’ & ‘Skye Bar’ to gentrification. Thankfully, we found our new and current home for our Thursday events, which has been the Astoria nightclub since 2015.
Like The Registry, Astoria nightclub is also located in the heart of the city centre. This area is also the epicentre of where Portsmouth Students live & study. This means that since 2010, Concrete Music has provided a huge amount of cultural engagement to the busiest area in Portsmouth.

From our online ticket sales stats we can see that a large amount of tickets are bought from many areas of the UK including: London, Bristol, Midlands, Wales & the South East showing that Concrete is popular across the UK, not only in Portsmouth.
Concrete Music prides itself on taking more of a creative and innovative approach than other events companies. Plenty of thought and time goes into themes, décor and creative events.
In Portsmouth, out side of Thursdays/Tuesdays, Concrete events regularly occur on weekends too, making use of unusual spots and venues.
The best example being the series of events ‘Castle Knights’ which were day into nighttime parties, hosted at Southsea Castle – one of Henry VIII’s Castle’s. Mixmag featured the event in their ‘The Big 3’ events section.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.
